Statistics for DNP Students
The Online Learning and Teaching Support Team at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Nursing worked with Dr. Debra Shockey to transform the statistics class from chaos to harmony.
The problem: there was so much content available on the web.
That is typically a good problem to have, however, too much content can often lead to a confusing course layout and frustrated students.
Note: we used content from David Lane’s Onlinestatbook, the YouTube channel Crash Course Statistics, and The Annenberg Learner’s Against All Odds: Inside Statistics series.
The solution: Cidi Labs.
Cidi Labs allowed OLTS staff to build out a course that included module lists at the beginning of each module with shortcuts to every page. Each page had a module progress bar so students could easily tell how far along they were with the content and how far they needed to go. Cidi Labs Quick Checks were built in for formative assessment and the Next button was hidden until the questions were answered.
With the help of the team at CidiLabs we were able to add custom CSS to different subaccounts to give each program their own distinct color and unique content blocks.
This course redesign would have been impossible without Cidi Labs training and support. The Cidi Labs software has been essential for the creation of accessible courses that are easy to navigate for both faculty and students.
